Versat's C&C Heavy truck

Nigeria’s heavy-duty truck market has welcomed a new contender, as Versat Automobile Limited formally steps into the industry with a clear message: build for Nigeria, support locally, and deliver lasting value.

Established in 2024, Versat Automobile Ltd. is positioning itself as a performance-driven automotive company focused on meeting the unique realities of Nigeria’s operating environment. At a time when industries such as logistics, construction, mining, and infrastructure development depend heavily on durable and efficient transport solutions, the company says it is ready to answer that call.

The company’s debut was marked by the official launch of C&C Trucks in Nigeria on February 6, 2026 — a move that signals Versat’s first major step into the heavy-duty truck segment.

Rather than entering the market quietly, Versat made its intentions clear: to establish a strong footprint in commercial trucking by offering vehicles engineered to withstand the country’s demanding road networks, climate conditions, and operational pressures.

Speaking at the launch, the Non-Executive Director of Versat Automobile Ltd., Alhaji Francis Ogboro, described the company’s entry as more than a business expansion. According to him, it represents a long-term commitment to equipping Nigerian businesses with dependable, high-performance trucks built specifically for local conditions and backed by reliable in-country support.

Central to the launch is the C&C Model U400 6x4, introduced in Tractor, Dump Truck, and Chassis variants. Designed for demanding applications, the U400 6×4 is tailored to operate under heavy load conditions without compromising stability or performance.

Under the hood, the truck boasts a 400-horsepower engine capable of delivering up to 1,800Nm of torque — providing the pulling strength required for construction haulage, mining operations, and long-distance logistics. Its high-strength steel chassis and reinforced structural components are built to endure rough terrains, while advanced combustion systems and high-efficiency turbocharger technology enhance fuel economy.

For fleet owners, efficiency is not just about performance — it is about profitability. Optimized fuel consumption and ease of maintenance are expected to translate into lower operating costs and faster returns on investment, a factor that resonates strongly in Nigeria’s cost-sensitive transport sector.

Versat Automobile Ltd. is not only emphasizing product strength but also the importance of after-sales service. The company has outlined a comprehensive support framework aimed at minimizing downtime and maximizing fleet uptime — a crucial consideration for operators whose revenue depends on consistent vehicle availability.

The partnership with C&C Trucks, a globally experienced commercial vehicle manufacturer known for its engineering capabilities and track record in heavy-duty production, further strengthens the offering.

Mr. Jin Haibo, a representative of C&C Trucks, expressed confidence in the collaboration, noting that the partnership blends internationally proven truck technology with localized adaptation, supported by a robust sales, service, and spare parts infrastructure.

Although newly established, Versat Automobile Limited is backed by professionals with a combined 187 years of experience across the automotive industry. The company also enjoys the support of long-term investors with expertise spanning manufacturing, engineering, legal services, real estate, and commodity import-export.

Industry observers say the entry of Versat could intensify competition in Nigeria’s heavy-duty truck segment, particularly at a time when infrastructure development and industrial expansion are driving demand for reliable commercial vehicles.

For Versat Automobile Ltd., however, the focus remains clear: deliver trucks built for Nigeria’s roads, supported by Nigerian expertise, and designed to create sustainable value for the businesses that keep the nation moving.
