Unidentified gunmen on Sunday launched a deadly attack on Aqua Triton Company in Ogunmakin, a border community between Ogun and Oyo states, killing a police officer and abducting a Chinese expatriate who is the company’s principal.

Reports indicate that the assailants invaded the company’s premises in a well-coordinated, commando-style operation, taking staff and security personnel by surprise.

Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said the attackers stormed the facility near Ibadan, where a police officer was fatally wounded while resisting the assault, though some of the gunmen were reportedly injured in the exchange.

Ayanlade disclosed that following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, immediately ordered the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations to lead anti-kidnapping and tactical teams to the area.

He added that security operatives are currently conducting intensive bush-combing operations, while a full-scale investigation is underway to rescue the abducted expatriate and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
