Lagos, Nigeria

Eerie encounter

On February 13, 2026, an anonymous woman from Lagos shared a haunting experience with a WINGLESS reporter, describing how she saw and held her brother’s ghost just days after his burial, reigniting debates about life after death.

For decades, theologians and spiritual leaders have debated what lies beyond death. While religions such as Christianity and Islam teach that souls await judgment, Hinduism and Buddhism speak of reincarnation and karma, a cycle in which souls are reborn into new bodies based on past actions.

The Lagos-based source recounted her eerie experience, saying, “I’ve had some strange experiences in my life, but one I’ll never forget is seeing and holding my deceased brother. It makes me laugh when people think the world is simple. In Ijebu, it’s common knowledge that dead loved ones can return to their families as newborns.”

She described a bizarre case of a six-month-old boy who could walk and talk fluently. When taken to his hometown in Ijebu, he approached a woman over 60 years old, called her his friend, and reminded her of clothes he’d left in her care. After spiritual guidance, she remembered her late friend who had left clothes with her before passing, and she gave the boy new clothes.

She added, “There are many such cases in Ijebu and elsewhere, but the one that still baffles me the most is that of my own late brother. Days after he died, his spirit returned to town. Neighbors who saw him called my mother’s attention to it. When she arrived, she held onto him and wanted to take him home, but he denied being the deceased person.

Relatives and friends gathered, and I went there too—I saw him and touched him. Since he kept denying it, onlookers forced my mother to let him go. After he was released and took a few steps, he vanished. That strange occurrence made me realize that the world is far more than what meets the eye.”
